Bell, Riddell and Giro are brands known for leading the way in helmets across a range of industries. From motorsports to football to cycling, innovation has always been a key component of the DNA of these brands. As Sr. Product Developer for the organization’s Advanced Concepts group, I was tasked with continuing the legacy of innovation that the company was built on. Areas of focus included reducing traumatic brain injuries, aerodynamic improvements and sustainability in products and manufacturing.

Bell Custom Fit Program
From the famous tagline - “If you’ve got a $10 head, wear a $10 helmet;” Bell has always been synonymous with safety. As the primary product developer on the program, I was responsible for creating a process to allow for a custom-fit helmet which not only performed better in impact testing, but also was a better fitting helmet - matching the inner contours of the helmet foam to a rider’s head.

CFD Analysis
I provided CFD analysis for a number of products, including the Bell Race Star moto helmet, resulting in approximately a 20% reduction in drag coefficient at speed.
